This specimen was lot 3374 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $107.10. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRUNSWICK-CALENBERG-HANNOVER: George III, 1760-1820, AR 1/6 thaler, 1794, mintmaster PLM, very faint hairlines, lustrous surfaces! Unc." This type was struck 1793-1800 to the convention thaler standard (one thaler = 120 kreuzer). This example realized about one half of the catalog value. Hannover, linked to the British crown 1714-1837, embroiled England in several continental conflicts the British establishment would rather have avoided.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: KM-401.
