This specimen was lot 23994 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover. Georg Ludwig Taler 1714, MS63 NGC, an obvious sister coin to to the earlier 1/2 taler of the same type with a remarkably similar, albeit slightly lighter, appearance. A pair that the advanced collector should consider keeping intact." Wild man thalers were issued from this locality as late as 1755. This one was issued on the death of the duke's mother, along with an eighth (KM 93), quarter (KM 94) and half thaler (KM 96). George Ludwig was promoted to king of England on the death of his cousin Anne Stuart in 1714. This is the period when the electorate ceased to be known as Brunswick-Luneburg and called Hannover instead.

Recorded mintage: unknown but quite scarce.
