Hannover 1713-HH 24 mariengroschen
This specimen was lot 74543 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 24 Mariengroschen (2/3 Taler), 1713-HH. Zellerfeld Mint; mm: crossed axes between HH. Georg Ludwig (future George I of Great Britain). PCGS AU-58. A well-struck example with attractive, lightly-toned surfaces. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1712-15 and is fairly common. In 1714, Georg Ludwig ascended the throne of Great Britain and all the Hanoverian coinage was revised to show his new title the next year.
