This specimen was lot 34410 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Elizabeth II gold 5 Pounds 1986 MS67 NGC. A high grade example with virtually no marks or signs of handling. AGW 1.1775 oz." This type was issued 1985-97 in small numbers and sold as bullion coins. The denomination has not circulated since the time of Edward VII (and probably not much even then). Other gold five pound types have been issued after this one (KM 924, KM 949, KM 958, KM 1003), all for sale to collectors.
