This specimen was lot 6644 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $564. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 2 Pounds, 1986. PCGS PROOF-69 DEEP CAMEO Secure Holder. Struck to commemorate the Commonwealth Games. Full brilliance to fields with beautifully contrasting frosted devices which are the hallmark of the late 20th century Royal Mint. Free of any lines or signs of handling."

Recorded mintage: 8,212,000 for circulation plus 125,000 nickel-brass proofs plus 58,881 in 0.500 fine silver plus 59,779 in sterling silver plus 3,277 in gold.

Specification: 15.98 g, nickel-brass (KM 947) 0.500 fine silver (KM 947a) or 0.925 fine silver (KM 947b) or 15.98 g, 0.917 fine gold (KM 947c, shown here). All are 28.4 mm diameter.
