This specimen was lot 24425 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth II Proof Sixpence 1957, PR66 Cameo PCGS, a most pleasing example of this rare Proof of Record, showing original copper-nickel toning." This type was issued in large numbers 1954-70 but the proofs are rare. The interwoven rose, thistle, shamrock and leek on the reverse represent England, Scotland, northern Ireland and Wales.
Recorded mintage: 108,342,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 2.83 g, copper-nickel, 19.3 mm diameter, designed by Mary Gillick.
