This type, struck 1954-67 and 1970, is very common except in proof. The interwoven rose, thistle, shamrock and leek on the reverse represent England, Scotland, northern Ireland and Wales.

Recorded mintage: 115, 052, 000 plus proofs.

Specification: 2.83 g, copper-nickel, 19.3 mm diameter, designed by Mary Gillick.
