Great Britain 1964 6 pence
This specimen was lot 24426 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth II Proof Sixpence 1964, PR66 PCGS, reflective brilliant surfaces showing light toning. Krause states "Reported, nor confirmed" as a proof, but Proofs of Record were made for each year when a Proof Set was not issued, as per law dating back to 1800. Rare and particularly well preserved." This type was issued in large numbers 1954-70 but the proofs are rare. The interwoven rose, thistle, shamrock and leek on the reverse represent England, Scotland, northern Ireland and Wales.
