This specimen was lot 183 in Sedwick sale 12 (Winter Park, FL, October 2012), where it sold for $442.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "London, England, sovereign, Elizabeth II, 1963. BU with matte fields (as made)." This type was struck 1957-68 in substantial numbers (the peak mintage was 8,700,000 in 1958) but as it was sold at its gold value, it is unlikely any ever circulated as coin. Cleaned and damaged specimens are likely ex-jewelry.
