This specimen was lot 1078 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, 1949. PCGS PROOF-64 BN Secure Holder. Toned with some blue and magenta hues over brilliant surfaces. From the Kevin Tierney Collection." This is the most common date of a type struck 1949-51 but the proofs are rare.

Recorded mintage: 14,324,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 9.4 g, bronze, 31 mm diameter, designed by George Krueger-Gray.
