This specimen was lot 44719 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, 1951. London Mint. NGC MS-66 Red. A lovely Penny, bright with blazing mint red bloom." This type was struck 1949-51 after the independence of India forced a change in the king's titles. This is a scarce date.

Recorded mintage: 120,000 + 20,000 proofs.

Specification: 9.4 g, bronze, 31 mm diameter, designed by George Krueger-Gray.
