Glarus 1807 schilling
The first specimen was lot 4286 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 525 CHF (about US$637 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Glarus, Schilling 1807, Glarus. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Glarus, one schilling of 1807. About extremely fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 5302 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$678 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Glarus, Schilling 1807, Glarus. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Glarus, schilling of 1807, Glarus mint. Flan flaw on edge, About Uncirculated.)"
Glarus joined the Swiss Confederation in 1352 but did not strike coinage until after the collapse of the Helvetic Republic. This type was struck 1806-07 and is scarce. The last issue from this canton was a shooting festival forty batzen issued in 1847. One schilling was three rappen; one hundred rappen made a frank.
