This specimen was lot 74621 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. Kreuzer, 1842. Frankfurt Mint. PCGS MS-66. Intense luster is ringed to spectacular effect by pale pastel blue iridescence on both faces. A true pleasure to examine under a glass, this magnificent little minor would enliven any German States or Frankfurt type cabinet." This tiny billon coin was struck 1838, 1841-57. The thaler was 120 kreuzer. The lowest value coin struck in Frankfurt at the time was the heller, one eighth of a kreuzer.
