This specimen was lot 75036 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. 2 Taler (3-1/2 Gulden), 1841. Frankfurt Mint. Free City. PCGS EF-40." This type was struck 1841-47, 1851, 1854-55. It is not rare but is less often seen than the popular city view double thaler of the same year (Dav-640).
Recorded mintage: 120,695 plus proofs.
Specification: 37.04 g, 0.900 fine silver, 40 mm diameter, lettered edge.
