This specimen was lot 31138 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $7,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Republic platinum Proof Piefort "Pantheon" 100 Francs 1985 PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC, Paris mint. Struck in celebration of the famous French Pantheon. Verifiably rare as a type, with a paltry 5 originally produced, of which this is known to be the first struck. The last example we sold brought $6,600 in August. Sold with NGC-verified Monnaies de Paris COA No. 0001." This specimen is from a type struck at the Paris mint for France 1982-2001 altho most years saw the denomination struck only for collector sets. The precious metal issues were strictly for insiders and collectors.

Recorded mintage: 999,000 plus 100 in sterling silver, 18 in gold and 10 in platinum.
