This specimen was lot 31132 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $7,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Republic platinum Proof Piefort 5 Francs 1985 PR69 NGC, Paris mint. An extremely rare double-weight platinum striking of this popular Semeuse design produced for circulation in copper-nickel, boasting an official mintage of just 5 pieces, with this verified to be the first struck. The last example of this type we offered brought $9300 in August. Sold with NGC-verified Monnaies de Paris COA No. 0001." This specimen is from a type struck at the Paris mint for France 1970-2001 altho some years, including 1985, saw the denomination struck only for collector sets. The precious metal issues were strictly for insiders and collectors.

Recorded mintage: 20,000 plus 70 in silver, 4 in gold and 5 in platinum.
