This specimen was part of lot 71354 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), which sold for $2,684. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Cleaned. 10) 1811-A, Paris. VERY FINE. Cleaned. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. From the Richard Margolis Collection." Shown is a Napoleonic five francs struck at the Toulouse mint (mint mark "M") in 1807. It is a slightly scarce date of an uncommon type. The various designs of Napoleonic five francs form eight distinct types of which this is the fifth, struck 1806-07 with a complete set of this type comprising 23 date and mintmark combinations, some very rare. It was officially withdrawn from circulation in 1928 and demonetized in 2005 but ceased to circulate in France after World War One.

Specification: 37 mm diameter, 25 grams, 0.900 fine silver, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.
