This specimen was lot 71250 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $129. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Quart de Franc (1/4 Franc), 1806-Q. Perpignan Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS FINE-12. Rather extensively worn, but nevertheless without issue. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Platt on 13 November 1962 in Paris for $1.25)." This type was struck 1806-07 with eleven different date-mintmark combinations, of which the 1806-A is the only one at all common. In 1806, the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed. The specimen shown is from Perpignan and is scarce. In 1807, the emperor's bust was revised.

Recorded mintage: 8,936 (8,948 per the SCWC).

Specification: 1.25 grams, 0.900 fine silver, 15 mm diameter, plain edge. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.
