This specimen was lot 1315 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Double Louis d'or au bandeau, 1747-L (Bayonne). Louis XV. Mintage 6,029. Rare. NGC graded Extremely Fine Detail (Reverse Cleaned)." This type was struck in France 1742-73 in some numbers. The type is common altho most individual dates are rare. The Bayonne mint struck this type 1742-58 without interruption and then ceased until 1771.

Specification: 16.31 g, 0.917 fine gold, reeded edge, 28-29 mm diameter, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
