This specimen was lot 33725 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Louis XV gold 2 Louis d'Or 1748-Q XF45 NGC, Perpignan mint." This type was struck 1742-73 in some numbers and the Perpignan mint issued this type 1743-59, 1763-72 but all the issues were small. It was succeeded by the double louis d'or à la vieille tête.

Recorded mintage: 3,038[2], a rare date.

Specification: 16.31 g, 0.917 fine gold, reeded edge, 28-29 mm diameter, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
