Sincona sale 63, lot 823

This specimen was lot 823 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$376 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Frankreich, konigreich, Louis XV. 1715-1774. 1/2 Ecu au bandeau 1747 W, Lille. Gadoury 314. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, half écu of the ribbon of 1747, Lille mint. Very fine-extremely fine.)"

The Lille mint struck this type 1741-42, 1744-63, 1766, 1774. It is the most common mint.

Recorded mintage: 369,348, common[2].

Specification: 14.74 g, 0.917 fine silver, edge lettered DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM, obverse legend LUD.XV.D.G.FR.ET NAV.REX, this specimen 14.71 g.
