This specimen was lot 26936 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $499.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XV gold 1/2 Louis d'Or 1741-A, VF-XF, lightly cleaned, bold details with no adjustment marks." This is a half louis d'or au bandeau minted at Paris (mintmark "A") during the reign of Louis XV of France. The type was struck 1741-53 and intermittently 1755-70. Like all half louis, it is rare. Droulers[2] that is the common date but this coin is too rare to collect by date.

Recorded mintage: 5,946[2].

Specification: 4.08 g, 0.917 fine gold, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
