The specimen shown is a louis d'or au bandeau, struck at the Reims mint. The type was struck in France 1740-74 and is the commonest gold coin of Louis XV after the louis d'or aux lunettes of 1726-40. This date, however, is rare.

Recorded mintage: 2,176.

Specification: 8.15 g, 0.917 fine gold, 24 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
