This specimen was lot 73470 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Trade Tokens. Essex. Braintree. Copper 1/2 Penny Token, 1794. PCGS MS-64 Brown. Obverse: SUCCESS TO TRADE AND COMMERCE, Hope standing left, raising hand and leaning upon anchor; Reverse: BRAINTREE & BOCKING HALFPENCE, facade of a building; Edge: PAYABLE AT W GOLDSMITHS BRAINTREE ESSEX. An impressively well-produced token with fully lustrous fields. The sharp details are interrupted by only occasion hits upon the surfaces which mostly disappear beneath the elegant brown patina."
