The first specimen was lot 29829 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Henry VI (1st Reign, 1422-61) gold 1/4 Noble 1422-30 AU58 NGC, London mint, Type C, Large lis mm. A lustrous example with a bit of softness in the legends to one side. Little circulation wear is evident." The second specimen was lot 1040 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$959 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, Henry VI. First Reign, 1422-1461. 1/4 Noble n. d. (1422-c.1430), Calais. Annulet issue. Mintmark lis. Three lis around shield. NGC UNC Details. Scratches on reverse." The noble was introduced by Edward III as part of a monetary reform and was tariffed at eighty pence (6 shillings 8 pence) and was the first gold coin to circulate in several centuries. In 1412 the noble was reduced from 120 grains to 108 grains.

Specification: gold, 27 grains (1.75 g), the second specimen is 1.68 g.
