The first specimen was lot 23014 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Groat, ND (1422-27). Calais Mint. Henry VI (first reign) (1422-61). PCGS EF-45 Secure Holder. Type with annulets at neck. Sharply detailed with full legends and pleasant dark gray toning on both sides." The second specimen was lot 75332 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $750. The catalog description[2] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Groat (4 Pence), ND (1422-30). Calais Mint; mm: Pierced Cross. Henry VI (first reign). PCGS AU-55. Annulet issue. Obverse: Crowned facing bust within tressure of arches; annulets flanking neck; Reverse: Long cross pattee; triple pellets in quarters, with additional annulets in second and third quarters. From the Richard August Collection." This type was struck in London (S-1835), York (S-1838) and Calais (shown here) along with a half groat and silver penny. The Calais issue is more available than the London issue.
