Denmark 1875-CS 10 ore
This specimen was lot 71739 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 10 Ore, 1875-CS. Copenhagen Mint; mm: heart. Christian IX. NGC MS-63. A beautiful Choice Mint State example, this exceptional piece delivers much appeal and charm. A perfect piece for the specialist in Denmark coinage." This type was struck 1874-75, 1882-91, of which only the 1889 and 1891 are common. It is part of the reform of 1874 which decimalized Danish coinage, dropping the old skillings, rigsbankdalers and fredericks d'or. This coin was struck to the same standard as the Swedish ten öre.
