Denmark 1855-FK VS 1/2 rigsdaler
This specimen was lot 33846 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "Denmark: Frederik VII 1/2 Rigsdaler 1855 FK-VS MS67 NGC, Copenhagen mint. Well-struck, with lustrous fields sheathed in a delicate silver patina and exhibiting tinges of maple color at the peripheries. Currently the finest graded at NGC. From the Feeling Good Collection." This two year type, like many European minors, is scandalously undervalued. After the reform of 1854, the monetary system was 96 skillings = 1 rigsdaler, 2 rigsdaler = 1 (old) speciedaler. In 1874, the coinage was reformed again to the current system of 100 øre = 1 krone.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 7.22 g, 0.875 fine silver.
