This specimen was lot 22160 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $376. The catalog description[1] noted, "CUBA. Peso, 1915. NGC MS-64. Sharply struck with light toning and strong luster. Quite attractive." This gold peso was struck at the Philadelphia mint for Cuba during a brief sugar boom during World War I. The type was struck 1915-16 only.
Recorded mintage: 6,850 plus 140 proofs.
Specification: 1.67 g, 0.900 fine gold.
