Sedwick sale 12, lot 1381

This specimen was lot 1379 in Sedwick sale 12 (Winter Park, FL, October 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Medellin, Colombia, 1 peso, 1870/9. Nicely toned AU (scarce grade) with much underlying luster, decent strike for the type, with minor rim-bruise. Note: Restrepo lists the overdate as 1870/69 but there is no 6 under the 0." This type was minted at Bogotá and Popayán 1862-68 and is fairly available in circulated condition tho choice specimens are scarce.

Recorded mintage: 48,000.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .723 troy oz ASW, reeded edge, 37 mm diameter, this specimen 24.9 g.
