This specimen was lot 12164 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 8 Escudos, 1762-PNJ. NGC EF Details--Excessive Surface Hairlines. Charles III (1759-88). Bust of Ferdinand VI, "CAROLS III"." This type was struck at Popayán 1760-71 and at Bogotá 1760-62.
