China 1992 150 yuan KM-433
This specimen was lot 2499 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA Volksrepublik, 150 Yuan 1992, Shanghai Mint. Proof. Jahr des Affen. Lunar Serie. Sehr selten. Nur 5'000 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. Im Originaletui mit Zertifikat (Very rare. Only 5,000 pieces struck, Choice Proof, In original box with certificate)." After Hong Kong released several successful commemoratives in the late 70's featuring the Chinese zodiac, the government of China took notice. The first lunar series NCLT was issued in 1983 for the Year of the Pig. This one honors the Year of the Monkey and came in many sizes and metals.
