The first specimen was lot 1638 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $108. The catalog description[1] noted, "Santiago, Chile, bust 2 reales, Ferdinand VII, 1812FJ. VF with uneven rims (as made), golden toned centers with dark-blue hues around the legends." This specimen is one of a series struck 1812-17 in Santiago, Chile, during the reign of Ferdinand VII. The opening of an enlarged Casa de Moneda in 1805 allowed the increase in mintages and this type is not rare. The bust of Ferdinand VII appears on the 2 reales, 8 reales and 8 escudos. The second specimen was lot 74190 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[2] noted, "CHILE. 2 Reales, 1812-So FJ. Santiago Mint. Ferdinand VII. PCGS FINE-12. From the Richard August Collection."

Reported Mintage: 69,000.
