Catalonia 1837 6 cuartos
This specimen was lot 2854 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 27 € (about US$35 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1837. Isabel II. Barcelona. 6 cuartos. MBC/MBC+ [very fine or better]." This copper coin was issued from Barcelona for use there and in Catalonia. It was struck 1836-48 and accompanied by a copper three quartos. In the local currency, six quartos = 1/20 peso. This coin is not common but priced rather low in the SCWC. The last local Catalan issue is a rare six quartos dated 1848.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a fairly common date.
