This specimen was lot 72327 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. Catalonia. 6 Quartos, 1836. Barcelona Mint. Isabel II. PCGS MS-63 Brown. '6 Quar' variety. Superbly preserved, this sizable copper issue showcases full design detail, few marks, and glossy fields that contain instances of original red color around the protected designs. As the single finest certified, a coin that is sure to be aggressively pursued by series specialists." This copper coin was issued from Barcelona for use there and in Catalonia. It was struck 1836-48 and accompanied by a copper three quartos. In the local currency, six quartos = 1/20 peso. This coin is not common but priced rather low in the SCWC. The last local Catalan issue is a rare six quartos dated 1848. This date also comes in a rare variety with the denomination written "VI QUAR" (KM 127).

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.
