The first specimen was lot 971 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $3,025. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN, Reino de España. Isabel II. 1833-1868. AR Peseta. Provincial issue for Cataluña. Barcelona mint. Francisco Paraldaltas Pinto and Simeeon Solá Roca, assayers. Dated 1837 B PS. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 67. Gem coin with mottled iridescent patina over fully lustrous surfaces. A fantastic coin. Purchased from M. Louis Teller, June 1975." This silver coin was issued from Barcelona 1836-37 for use there and in Catalonia. It was accompanied by various copper coins denominated in quartos. In the local currency, five pesetas = one peso. This coin is not common. The last local Catalan issue is a rare six quartos dated 1848.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not common.

Specification: 5.60-5.87 g, 0.900 fine silver, 25 mm diameter, the first specimen Ø25 mm, 5.72 g, 12h axis.
