This specimen was lot 23313 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 50 Dollars, 2013. NGC PROOF-69. A 25th Anniversary issue. A brilliant and attractive proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted devices." The profits extracted from the manufacture and sale of NCLT's caused the Royal Canadian Mint to scramble for ever more arcane topics. This commemorative honors another coin, the silver Maple Leaf of 1988.
