Canada 2000-P 10 cents

Heritage sale 3010, lot 20440

This specimen was lot 20440 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,955. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Elizabeth II 10 Cents 2000P, MS67 PCGS, a flawless example of this rare test coinage, highly elusive in this select designation." In 1999-2000, Canada converted her ten cent piece from nickel to nickel plated steel as an economy measure. The regular nickel issue (KM 183) was retired in 1999 after a production run of 159,125,000. This test piece was minted in 1999-2000 along with some silver proofs (KM 183a).
