Goldberg sale 117, lot 2363
G117-2363r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2363 in Goldberg sale 117 (Los Angeles, September 2020), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada. 5 Dollars, 2000. Oval "2000" privy mark. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated." Canada, enviously watching the krugerrand conquer world bullion markets in the mid-1970's, decided to enter her own product in 1979, dubbed the Maple Leaf. The type was modified in 1983 to indicate .9999 purity and again in 1990 to update the bust of the queen. Maple Leafs (Leaves?) are still in production but use the current bust of the queen.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.12 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.1003 ounce AGW.

Catalog reference: KM-188.
