This specimen was lot 70305 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 25 Cents, 1947. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Mirrored fields from the chrome plated dies." This type was struck for George VI 1937-47 and this is a fairly common date. In 1948, "ET IND IMP" was dropped from the obverse legend (KM 44) and the modified type was issued 1948-52. Silver was removed from the quarter in 1968.
Recorded mintage: 1,524,554 plus 4,393,938 dated 1947 with maple leaf.
Specification: 5.83 g, 0.800 fine silver, .150 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
