Canada 1947 25 cents

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70305

This specimen was lot 70305 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $65. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CANADA. 25 Cents, 1947. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Mirrored fields from the chrome plated dies." This type was struck for George VI 1937-47 and this is a fairly common date. In 1948, "ET IND IMP" was dropped from the obverse legend (KM 44) and the modified type was issued 1948-52. Silver was removed from the quarter in 1968.

Recorded mintage: 1,524,554 plus 4,393,938 dated 1947 with maple leaf.

Specification: 5.83 g, 0.800 fine silver, .150 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
