Canada 1946 25 cents

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70304

This specimen was lot 70304 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $120. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CANADA. 25 Cents, 1946. NGC MS-65. Brilliant luster, attractive purplish toning developing on the reverse." This type was struck for George VI 1937-47 and this is a fairly common date. In 1948, "ET IND IMP" was dropped from the obverse legend (KM 44) and the modified type was issued 1948-52. Silver was removed from the quarter in 1968.
