This specimen was lot 32629 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $205.63. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI Specimen 5 Cents 1946 SP65 PCGS. twelve sided nickel issue. Seldom encountered as a Specimen. From The Eric Beckman Collection of Canadian Coins." Canadian five cent pieces were struck in nickel 1922-42 then converted to "tombac" (a variety of brass) for 1942-43, then in chrome plated steel 1944-45, then back to nickel for 1946-51. This date is common.

Recorded mintage: 6,952,684.

Specification: 4.5 g, nickel, 21.2 mm diameter.
