This specimen was lot 37729 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 50 Cents, 1913. Ottawa Mint. George V. PCGS AU-50." The year 1911 inaugurated the coinage of George V. The new issues were introduced without the "DEI GRA" legend on the obverse. After a public outcry (doubtless puffed up by attention-hungry politicians and newspaper editors), the legend was restored in 1912 and struck in this form until 1919. Later issues were only 0.800 fine silver.
Recorded mintage: 265,889, a better date.
Specification: 11.62 g, 0.925 fine silver, 29.7 mm diameter, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM-25.
