This specimen was lot 73176 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $2,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Sovereign, 1913-C. Ottawa Mint. George V. PCGS MS-62. Boasting a paltry mintage figure, this nearly-Choice specimen features an enticing golden-orange tone paired with exceptional brilliance." The Ottawa mint struck sovereigns featuring Edward VII 1908-10 and George V 1911-19. The 1911 is the most common date. The sovereigns were superseded in 1912 by ten dollar gold pieces.
