The first specimen was lot 4067 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$120 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780 Konventionstaler 1780. Günzburg Mit S.F. unter dem Brustbild. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, convention thaler of 1780, Günzburg mint, with 'S. F.' under the bust. Very fine-extremely fine.)"

This one year type is the original of the famous "Maria Theresia" thaler restruck in the hundreds of millions. It is a product of the Günzburg mint in Burgau. The second specimen was lot 759 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[2] noted, "AUSTRIA: Maria Theresa, 1740-1780, AR thaler, Milan, 1780, Hafner-35, initials ST-SF, minted from 1790-1802, rare, VF."

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, .751 troy oz ASW; the first specimen is 27.98 g.
