Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1709 12 mariengroschen
This specimen was lot 74627 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 12 Mariengroschen, 1709. Zellerfeld Mint; mm: three stars. Anton Ulrich. PCGS AU-58. Presenting a rather sharp strike and wonderful toning, this charming minor is about as close to Mint State status as possible, with a particular refinement noted on the figure, and especially the face, of the wildman. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1705-11 and is fairly common. Twelve mariengroschen made one third of a thaler or half a gulden. No mintmaster appears on this coin.
