This specimen was lot 4134 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €16,000 (about US$22,011 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM August der Jüngere, 1635-1666. Löser zu 2 Reichstalern 1666, Zellerfeld, auf seinen Tod. Mit Wertpunze. * DEI GRATIA AUGUSTUS DUX BRUNOVICENSIUM ET LUNÆBURGENS Elf Zeilen Schrift: NATUS / AO : 1579 . 10 APR : / REXIT / DUCAT ET COMITAT : / SUOS ANNOS XXXI / OBIIT / 17 . Like most double thalers, this one year type is rare. It accompanied a sextuple thaler (Dav-LS90). The reverse motto, "OMNIA NON NISI PROVIDO ET VEGETO CONSILIO", translates as, "Nothing is provided except by planning."
