This specimen was lot 41261 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. Taler, 1636-HS. Zellerfeld Mint. August "the Younger". PCGS AU-50. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This one year type accompanied other similar "wild man" thalers in 1636, Dav-6336 and Dav-6337, with variations in the spelling of the duke's titles. The Dav-6337 is the most available.
