This specimen was lot 55466 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. Taler, 1636-HS. Zellerfeld Mint. August "the Younger". Extremely Fine Details -- Mount Removed. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Ex: NASCA Wayte Raymond Sale Part III, Lot 1294." This is one of the first thalers struck for the new duke, August the Younger. It varies from the later Dav-6337 of 1636-39 by stating his title as "DUX" rather than "HERTZOG". It is rather scarce.
