This specimen was lot 25036 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $300. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Wolfenbuttel. 1/2 "Light" Taler, 1576. Goslar Mint; mm: patriarchal cross. Julius. PCGS VF-35. Despite what must have been a good deal of time spent in commerce, this charming minor nevertheless remains entirely wholesome and sports a deep, pleasing cabinet tone as well. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This half "light" thaler (referring to the lamp in the wild man's hand and not the weight) was struck 1570-82 and is scarce.
